How much does a hot tub repair cost?
It depends entirely on the problem. A simple heater element replacement is in a different ballpark to a slow leak repair or a full control board replacement. Most calls land between a few hundred dollars for quick fixes and over a thousand for major component work. We always quote upfront before any parts are ordered.
My hot tub isn't heating — what's wrong?
Most no-heat issues come down to one of: a failed heater element, a tripped high-limit switch, a flow problem (clogged filter, dying circulation pump, airlock), a faulty thermistor, or a sticking relay on the control board. The symptom looks identical but the fix is completely different — diagnostic testing tells you which it actually is.
What does an FLO or FL1 error mean on my topside?
FLO/FL1 errors mean the spa thinks it's not getting enough water flow through the heater. Common causes are a clogged filter, low water level, an airlock after a refill, a failing circulation pump, or a stuck pressure/flow switch. Sometimes it's the switch itself that's bad, not the flow.
Why is my GFCI breaker tripping?
A tripping GFCI almost always means there's current leaking to ground somewhere in the system. The most common causes are a failed heater element with the sheath compromised, water inside a pump motor, rodent damage to the wiring inside the cabinet, or a failing topside control. We trace it down by isolating circuits one at a time.
Should I repair my hot tub or replace it?
Generally, repair if the shell, cabinet, and structure are sound and the tub is under 12-15 years old. Replace if you're seeing multiple major issues stacking up (heater + pump + board), or if the foam interior is saturated from a long-running leak. We'll always tell you honestly when a quoted repair is approaching the cost of replacement.
How do I winterize my hot tub if I'm not using it?
If you're shutting it down for winter, you must drain the tub, blow out all lines with a shop vac or compressor, drain the heater and pump housings, and store the cover dry. A partially drained tub in freezing temps will crack pipes, blow the heater, and saturate the foam — usually a $1500+ repair. If you're not 100% confident doing it yourself, get a professional winterizing service.
What spa brands do you service?
All major US spa brands — Sundance, Hot Springs, Jacuzzi, Bullfrog, Master Spas, Caldera, Marquis, Cal Spas, Coleman, Arctic Spas, Hydropool, Vita Spas, and many more. If your topside has a brand on it, we likely service it.
How long does a hot tub last?
A well-maintained quality spa runs 15-20 years. Cheaper builder-grade tubs typically start showing major problems by year 8-10. The biggest factor is water chemistry — neglected pH or sanitiser destroys heaters, pump seals, and acrylic shells faster than anything else.
Do you offer emergency service?
We prioritize urgent jobs, particularly in winter where a non-heating spa risks freeze damage. Call (208) 758-8151 and we'll work out the soonest we can be out.
